Thank you for showing me how to change a negative feeling into a positive. I often get stuck with a feeling not knowing how to change it. I have a strong inner judge. I am very grateful, you are wonderful!

Hi John! I have a question about the double dissociation thing. So, the way you described it, to dissociate consciously, is a supportive dissociation. I’d always been lead to believe that dissociation was not a good thing because one is not being present by “running away” from or completely “stepping out” of the experience. But, the way you describe to use it – mindfully aware, choosing on purpose – it’s showing to be helpful. By using conscious dissociation, would it make it easier to dissociate in a non-supportive way during a situation in the future, or, would it bring more awareness and ease in a possible uncomfortable or traumatizing event that may happen in the future? That was kinda long – I hope you understand what I mean. ?

      Hi Shelly,
Being conscious is the key to this series of videos… living your life in an effortless flow state is wonderful. Sometimes you need to drive the bus.
I’ve known people step out of good memories and view them in the distance, then complain that nothing good has ever happened to them.
Really unpleasant memories need no more power. No more energy. they’ve had and taken enough.
Consciously removing yourself from the memory of an experience will (generally) reduce the feeling. If it was a traumatic event that is upsetting you its time to drive the bus.
Will it happen automatically. It does sometimes…
15 years ago I was involved in a car accident, hit from behind by a car while on foot. It threw me through the air and onto the front of a parked car. I saw it happening to me… and thought “thats gotta hurt”. As I hit the parked car I popped back into my body… Out of Body Experience or my mind disassociating realtime… who knows… what I do know, the feeling of calm over me while watching it happening would have been a very different experience, had I have been ‘in’ the experience.
Will you start disassociating from unpleasant things in the future if you practice this technique… probably. The more you practice things the better you get at them. πŸ™‚
Hope you have more success with this and the other techniques πŸ™‚
      Peace,
      John

    Hi John,

I’m a little behind. Busy last week and had some problems with the computer. Thanks for sharing this. I have a problem with getting in touch with feelings and physical feelings. I’m more visual and auditive than kinesthetic. So knowing in which way they spin is sometimes difficult. I had meditations/visualizations in the past with people asking to find feelings and it’s hard. Also I usually have a pain in my chest due to acid reflux and hiatal hernia and sometimes it gets my full attention and makes it hard to find any other feelings. Will keep trying. And also research opposite colors lol
Also thanks for mentioning we could do the powernap twice. Since it’s a nap I thought I should only do it once at nap time.
Hope I was clear. I’m from Uruguay, South America and my main language is Spanish. Thanks again!

The best thing is to just go with it… don’t worry about it. A Kid learns to speak just by copying and at the start its just nonsense… but they enjoy it and keep going. If the Visual and the Audio are easy (great, not everyone finds that easy), the Kinaesthetic will come with practice.

      1) One thing you can do is to lay down and relax. First notice your legs laying on the ground/bed, then your arms, head etc keep noticing all the External physical sensations… and as you do start to become aware of the feeling of relaxation and notice the difference between external feeling and internal.

      2) Start BIG. What are you REALLY looking forward to… how excited are you about it?

As you are good at visualising you can start to visualise what a good feeling would look like if you could feel it more… you can use your internal dialogue to also get excited about what it would be like if you could feel the feelings stronger… and the more you create a visual and auditory though in your mind about the feelings the easier it will become to notice and increase the feelings…

      Hope this helps πŸ™‚

  • Thank you John, I’ve enjoyed this tremendously and looked forward to receiving the daily email. I feel clearer and more focused and as always this came along st the perfect time when I’ve been doing so much inner work, I feel that you’re techniques are helping to seal in the changes I’ve been trying to make. Thank you thank you thank you πŸ™
